Hi, I’m Amanda!

At PromOTing Strength, we specialize in supporting the start, continuation, or return to exercise for individuals who are pregnant or postpartum. We strive to meet you wherever you are at in your journey, and will design a safe, effective, and personalized plan to help you meet your goals. From beginners to competitive athletes — we are here for you.
Not pregnant? Not postpartum? Still interested in optimizing your breath, core, and pelvic floor to support your lifts? We have had athletes transform the power behind their lifts (including HUGE PR’s) within our coaching sessions. You belong here, too!
In perimenopause, menopause, or beyond? Looking to start or continue weightlifting? Want to increase strength, bone density, and quality of life? Need strategies to reduce common pelvic floor symptoms like leaking, pain, and/or pressure when you exercise? We’d love to work together.
At PromOTing Strength, we are inclusive to all individual abilities, gender identities, and expressions.
Our Story
Long story short: PromOTing Strength, LLC came from seeds of curiosity & necessity; I wanted to do better for my pregnant and postpartum athletes…and for myself, as I navigated exercise throughout my own pregnancy journey.
The deeper, messier, version: This company bloomed from the absolutely wild and unexpected rewiring that happened when I became a mom. Motherhood changed me — actually, no…it cracked me open and unraveled my edges until I was left to deeply examine the core essence of my being, as I slowly picked up the pieces, tried them on, kept the ones that served this new version of me, and left the rest scattered in a sort of breadcrumb trail as I moved through and beyond. The term for this (psychological, social, cultural, and existential) transformation is “matrescence” (Athan, 2016) — a metamorphosis so profound that it is likened to the life changes of adolescence, yet occurs in a fraction of the time.
As I moved through the fog, I uncovered my own roots buried deep in the earth…while discovering some new, budding branches. I wanted to use my skillset to help people find their strength. To feel empowered in their bodies. To feel seen. To reduce barriers to movement.
I wanted to provide inclusive fitness, rooted in care.
Our Roots
Occupational Therapy
I have a doctorate degree in occupational therapy, with national board certification and over 10 years of experience supporting clients in meeting their personal goals. I spent the majority of my career as an OT promoting functional, meaningful, and accessible physical activity in classrooms and schools… working to bring awareness to the physical and mental benefits of physical activity, increase access & participation for students with disabilities, and shift public view on high-intensity exercise for individuals of all abilities. I’ve presented to colleagues on the local, state, and national levels.
At the core of it all, I care about seeing & understanding people, and helping people do the things that are most meaningful to them.
Athletics & Coaching
My love for movement is life-long; it’s how I find peace and community. My core memories from my teen years revolve around running track and cross country (including meeting my now husband!). I dabbled with different sports in college: running for fun, broomball (do yourself a favor and look that one up), dance classes, ice curling (once…), yoga, and a very short stint as a coxswain on the D1 (novice) crew team. After college, I wanted more structured strength training and started CrossFit.
I am now a Level 2 CrossFit Coach, with over 7 years of coaching experience. Add in some years coaching local high school runners and throwers (mostly teaching the athletes how to lift weights!). In 2020 I expanded my training with the Adaptive Training Academy (ATA) Adaptive & Inclusive Trainer certification and then spent time as a subject matter expert in occupational therapy with ATA. In 2023, I became immersed in the research and best practice for supporting how women move their bodies through, and beyond, this season of life. In 2024, I completed my certification as a Pregnancy and Postpartum Athleticism Coach and have been running workshops, strength programs, and coaching sessions ever since.
When I'm not with clients, you can find me spending time with my family — at the gym, walking our dogs, and being outside. I love being near water and in nature, and sharing in new adventures with my little one.
